Chinese police dismantle cross-border fraud ring targeting elderly with fake state projects

Chinese police have broken up a transnational criminal gang that defrauded elderly people by creating fake state-backed investment projects. The gang, which operated from China, Laos, Singapore, and Cambodia, made over 60 billion yuan in illicit gains and developed fraudulent apps. Police arrested 101 suspects in China and 156 in cooperation with the three foreign countries. The operation was coordinated by the Ministry of Public Security.
