Shandong province held a press conference on August 17 to outline steps for enforcing the national Environmental Code, which took effect on August 15. Officials reported that Shandong has amended 28 local regulations and abolished 27 others to align with the code, covering areas from transport pollution to water management. The code, China's second law to carry the 'code' designation after the Civil Code, consolidates over 30 environmental laws into a single framework.
